Sometimes we get daily writing prompts. This is one of the days when the prompt is good, and deserves answers.
“What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?”
I’m serving food. It’s a special brand of food, food meant for the soul. Stories, as one of my own favorite authors has said, are soul food.
What I mean to do with this blog is to serve people meals that will enrich them and help them grow in their soul. What good is a strong physical body without a strong spiritual body? A strong physical body is only likely to serve in bad ways to a weak soul. But a strong body can serve in huge, amazing ways to a strong, good soul. This is why soul food is important.
My stories are soul food. They may not be a Thanksgiving feast, but they are more than simple McDonald’s French fries. I strive to make a good snack, something more like carrot sticks and granola bars rather than chips and popcorn.
I want to enrich people, to benefit them and give them something to enjoy. I want to bring something to people that they can look back on and say “That was good.” Ever heard of the Butterfly Effect? I think that my stuff might not be a big deal in itself, but I hope that it will set of chain reactions of change that affect others for the better.
